I wanted to give an update on what I have been playing since I was heavily slacking in posting in March due to a vacation and other unexciting things!
In my backlog post, I said I would beat the Metroid Prime Trilogy before Kingdom Hearts 3. Well, that was a lie. So my current backlog is a bit out of whack right now. Essentially I am playing what I want to off my backlog instead of trying to plan it all out unless things are dyer in that regard.
Over the past few months, I have gotten access to three gigantic libraries of games. I bought a Nintendo DS in order to play Gameboy Advance games while also being able to play DS games. Then, a few weeks later, I bought a 3DS to counteract my DS purchase in the DS gaming section. However, I have a way to play GBA games, and trade between DS games in Pokemon. Progress!
I started this new, but old adventure off by playing some games I never played before, or barely played. Metroid Fusion was the first game I chose to play during this new era and I loved every minute of it. Too linear at points, but the story definitely was awesome for it being linear. I continued the Metroid life by playing Metroid Zero Mission and that was a truly great remake of a classic game. Made it a lot better to get through compared to my original playthrough of it.
During both of those handheld games, I played Shadow of the Colossus which was praised while I was a child, but I never was interested in it. I definitely understand the high praise after playing it. Great boss fights and a truly memorable ending. However, I got highly annoyed by the camera controls and how clunky the game can feel. It is a PS2 game, so I do understand not wanting to change the true feeling of the game though.
After all of those games and Kingdom Hearts 3, I beat Super Mario 3D Land and Kirby’s Canvas Curse. Both were pretty great for their respective platform. Then, came the game I have been curious about ever since it was released. Titanfall 2. Goodness, that game has a truly great story to tell. I hope Respawn goes back to the Titanfall universe in a single-player outlook. Apex Legends is great, but I want to see where this story continues!
We are now in my March journey and the only game I beat in March was Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze. I can definitely see why it is such a great game, but I was truly abysmal at it. Retro, please announce your next game. I need to learn how to get better at your games.
Now, time for my game journey for the majority of the month of March. I saw a Pokemon video where someone tried to have a Living Dex. A Living Dex is where you try to have one of every Pokemon. So, I was inspired and tried to take on this challenge myself. In a week’s time, I accomplished Kanto in Let’s Go Pikachu since I had half of the Pokemon already when I beat the game in December. However, after that week of a terrible sleep schedule, I am truly undecided on continuing this monumental journey. I shall see on that front. However, I am enjoying HeartGold right now. Such great Generation 2 remakes.
The future of my the next few weeks is more so undecided except for a weekend essentially. I am finishing up playing Resident Evil 2 during a weekend, after renting it from Redbox for a night or two and got hooked into my interest. That could take two weekends though as well to go through both Claire and Leon’s story.
I am sure I’ll play through HeartGold from time to time and trying to finish Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, but mainly I will probably play some sports games to get my simulation fix in.
Until April 27th, when Days Gone is released! After all the previews of Days Gone, I am quite excited about the game. I was highly interested before, but now I am more interested and truly ready for this game to be released. The characters’ stories seem a lot more important than what it originally seems.
That is mainly what I have been going through in my gaming life right now. We shall see what happens after Days Gone! Hopefully Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but who truly knows! Thanks for taking the time to read this post about what I have been playing, until next time!
